British Government Accused of Green Car Stealth Tax

In a move that will send shivers through the dogma of Green government. Gordon Brown's government has been accused of creating yet another stealt tax on the British people by an unwarrented and irrelevant Budget proposed by his Chancellor Alistair Darling last month.

"this is a cynical and unwarranted tax which damages both the party and the green agenda."

The 'green levy' which was to encourage motorists and business to buy green cars has been admitted by the treasury to be no such thing. It now appears that this tax will affect only 1% of traffic and will bring in the government 4bn pounds of revenue.

As one labour supporter admitted, "this is a cynical and unwarranted tax which damages both the party and the green agenda."

The conservatives have already decribed the tax as "disproportionate".
