Chris Innis

The recent commissioning of another section of the Waldpolenz energy park has created one of the largest solar parks in the world and now the largest in Germany. The energy park has more than 12.7 megawatts (MW) of production capacity connected to the electricity network and on completion in 2009 will have 40-MW capacity. The project is using some of the latest thin-film PV technology provided by First Solar. On completion the solar power station will displace about 25,000 tons of the greenhouse gas carbondioxide (CO2) every year.

The contractor on the project is the juwi group.
