Chris Innis

The National Audit Office today reported on the Carbon Trust, a Government sponsored organisation that assists companies and technology to reduce carbon emissions.  Overall, the report was positive highlighting the role the Trust has had as an incubator and uts contribution to reducing carbon emissions.  It noted that not all the recommendations of the Trust have been implemented by businesses engaged by it citing cost as overwhelmingly the main barrier to the implementation of recommendations.  As a Government auditor it examines the relationship between the Trust and venture capital in early stage investment, commending the Trust but highlighting potential conflicts of interest.  The report concluded that generally the Trust was delivering value for money.
